This year the Indian Neighbourhood Festival have joined forces with Amsterdam BLEND Market and Eltheto Leefgemeenschap for a very festive day! Because this year is the 10th edition of the festival, there will also be a fashion show.

Amcat Festival (30 June – 1 July)

AMCAT is the convention, trade show and festival that places street culture in the limelight. The ITS Festival (19 – 24 Jun)

Every year at the end of June, the latest crop of performing artists flood our city. The International Theatre School Festival Amsterdam is the biggest European festival. There will be over 200 theatre talents in more than 70 unique productions. Actors, dancers, singers, mime artists, (film) directors and other performing artists – national and international – will make their first appearance at more than ten professional theatres in the heart of Amsterdam.

Carnivale Brettanomyces (21-24 June)

Carnivale Brettanomyces is an annual beer festival, dedicated to Brettanomyces and other less common yeast and bacteria. The goal is to both educate and inform you about the different spectrum of beers brewed with these outsiders, and to share and drink an awful lot of them! This festival takes place at various beer venues, spread out along the alleys and canals in the centre of Amsterdam.

Urban Photo Race (12 June)

Amateur and professional photographers are invited to experience and share a unique view of Amsterdam in this exciting photo marathon. You are challenged to create a photo series (3 photos per theme) within a given time limit. These themes will be disclosed at scheduled and different venues (checkpoints). The purpose is to give you an opportunity to see and look at the city in a different way, to discover new places and meet other photographers. Now in it’s 8th edition, the flagship event of the Urban Photo Race Amsterdam continues to challenge your perspective in every way.

Ibiza market at Dok (16 June)

The Ibiza market travels throughout the Netherlands, and DOK is the perfect location for it! Enjoy a unique market with handmade, vintage and Fair Trade products. Come and relax on the city beach. Cannabis Liberation Day (17 June)

On Cannabis Liberation Day we celebrate the international cannabis culture and show how much good this plant has to offer. Cannabis Liberation Day calls for tolerance and widespread use of hemp as a durable resource and challenges the criminalisation of the plant, the cannabis consumers, coffeeshops and cultivators. In addition to the stage program with artists, speakers and DJs from home and abroad, there will be a big Hemp Market, a Cannabis University (with debates, masterclasses and workshops), a Vape Lounge and a mouth watering food and drinks area.

What’s on in Amsterdam 1 – 24 June

So, what’s on in Amsterdam this week in June?

Summer Evenings at the Zoo (1 June – 31 Aug)

During summer, ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo will be open every Saturday until sunset. There will be workshops for children and performances by famous artists and emerging musicians. Have a picnic in the grass or order a pizza from the outdoor kitchen. While you’re there, learn to grow your own edible garden and attend a talk by a veterinarian, microbiologist or plant expert. The evening concludes with a special guided tour of the park at twilight.

Amsterdam Sevens Rugby (8 – 10 June)

Although the Netherlands is not known internationally as a rugby country, the faster version of Rugby Sevens – with 7 players per team – is immensely popular among young Dutch athletes. Everything revolves around speed, sharp passes and explosiveness, making the matches extremely exciting!

Bacchus Wine Festival (8 – 17 June) 

This wine festival works with a selection of well-known wine merchants from Amsterdam and the surrounding area to provide a large array of wines. These will be presented in a festival setting, with an eclectic mix of live bands and DJs. The programme is designed to appeal to both newbies and connoisseurs. The ‘wijnlokaal’ will host talks and lectures about wine while the food stalls and restaurants will provide culinary pairings!

Day of Architecture (10 – 24 June)

The entire month of June is dedicated to Amsterdam architecture! After successful earlier editions of the Day of Architecture, the event expands this year to three Sundays in June. This year focuses on the North / South line (metro), which will be in use by July. Every Sunday, the area around one of the future metro stations of the Noord / Zuidlijn (Noorderpark, Central Station and Station Zuid) will be the focus. Various buildings around the metro stations will also open up their doors to the public.
